🔑 Step 1: Get Registered (One-Time Setup)
Before you can bid on government contracts, you need to register on these platforms. Do this once and you're set.
SAM.gov (Federal) — FREE · Required for federal bids
- Go to sam.gov/content/entity-registration
- Create a Login.gov account (if you don't have one)
- Complete your Entity Registration — you'll need your EIN, DUNS/UEI number, bank info
- Takes 7-10 business days to process — start this ASAP
ConstructConnect — Free to browse, subscription for full details
- Many listings link directly to the bid source — no account needed
- For full project docs, you may need a free account at constructconnect.com
FDOT / County Bids — Usually FREE
- Most county and FDOT bids just require downloading the bid package from their website
- Submit per their instructions (email, mail, or online portal)
- Some counties use Bonfire or OpenGov portals — free registration
📄 Step 2: Find a Bid You Like
- Use the filters above to narrow by distance, relevance, and source
- Green = High Relevance — best match for your services
- 🔥 Closing Soon — deadline within 3 days, act fast
- Click View Original → on any bid to go to the full posting
📝 Step 3: Submit Your Bid
- Read the full solicitation — download the bid package from the original source
- Check requirements — look for bonding requirements, insurance minimums, licensing, set-asides (small business, veteran-owned, etc.)
- Prepare your bid — fill out their forms, calculate your pricing, attach required docs
- Submit before the deadline — late = automatic rejection, no exceptions
- Follow up — some agencies post award decisions; check back after the deadline
💡 Pro Tips
- Start small — bid on smaller local/county jobs first to build your track record
- Attend pre-bid meetings — if listed, these give you an edge and show you're serious
- Get your UEI number — replaces DUNS, free at sam.gov
- Check set-asides — small business set-asides reduce competition significantly
- Save bid templates — once you've submitted one, reuse the format for similar bids
- This dashboard updates regularly — check back often for new opportunities
